Benin and Other Western African Cultures in the New World

Your Nubian Detective has discovered an article in a peer reviewed journal that actually connects Africa to the Mayans of the New World. Genetic indicators seem to be in both cultures.

So is it possible that Nubian technology traded to the Western Africans helped them to land in the New World?

Your Nubian Detective is on the search for the article.

Can there be a basis for the Washitaw after all? Is it possible they landed, created babies and left?

Stay tuned...

  1. Supposedly some of the Malian kings of West Africa had been sailing to the new world for a while. One of them supposedly abdicated his throne in order to spend his life searching the new world. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/1068950.stm

  2. West Africa didn't need Nubia to tech it anything. When the Sahara went dry you had mass migrations in every direction from the desert. One was to the west in present day Mauritania. Around 3,000 BCE or so you get the "Tichett" complex, which were very large stone cities. This area would late come to be known as the ancient empire of Ghana. These cities were created and administered by Mande speaking people. From this civilization came successive waves of other Mande empires, as one Mande group would fall, another would rise and take its place. This all culminated with the Mandinka empire (also a Mande people). It is more likely than not that all of these civilization both Mande and Nile valley were in the Sahara, they took what knowledge they had developed while living in the Sahara and developed these knew civilizations in other parts of the continent. What is interesting to note as well is the classical religion of Mande people. If you study it, it is almost identical to the Nile Valley religion, but then again so is Ife and a host of other classical African religions.

What seems to have happened is, most of these groups were living in the Sahara. They probably had a very well developed civilization, religion etc. The Sahara starts to become a desert and various groups in the desert go in the various directions and disperse throughout Africa. They brought with them their civilization and technology and this is what you see pop up around 3,000 BCE or so, all around the continent.

It is my opinion that one day they will unearth a civilization that will rival anything the world has seen, underneath the Sahara, and it is this civilization that gave rise to the various African empires all over the continent.
